Serving the San Francisco Bay Area Since 2005 — With Purpose and Proof

The San Francisco Bay Area leads the nation in sustainability, combining forward-thinking policies with active community engagement. Home to over 7 million people, the region enforces strict electronics recycling laws under California’s SB 20, which governs the safe disposal of devices with screens and hazardous materials.

Since 2005, GreenCitizen has proudly partnered with over 70,000 Bay Area businesses and 400,000 residents to recycle electronics the right way — keeping 32 million pounds of e-waste out of landfills. Whether you’re recycling a laptop, desktop, phone, or anything with a plug, we’ve made the process easy, secure, and environmentally sound.

Businesses across the Bay Area rely on our certified pickup service, while residents can drop off items directly at our Burlingame EcoCenter — no appointment needed.

Every item we receive is meticulously tracked through our proprietary GreenCitizen Total Accountability Management System (GTAMS), ensuring complete transparency and responsible recycling. We exclusively partner with R2 and e-Stewards certified recyclers to guarantee that all electronics are processed within the United States — never illegally exported overseas.

For businesses and individuals handling sensitive data, our data destruction services adhere to Department of Defense (DoD) and NIST 800-88 compliance standards, providing peace of mind and full regulatory alignment.

And for added value? Qualified laptops and desktops are recycled free of charge, helping you reduce e-waste responsibly — without extra cost.

If you’re based outside the Bay Area, we’ve got you covered with our nationwide mail-in electronics recycling service.
