How to Recycle Keyboards with GreenCitizen

Business Pickup For Office Equipment Loads

We offer business electronics pickup across the San Francisco Bay Area for offices, schools, nonprofits, healthcare facilities, and property managers. If your organization is retiring keyboards and related peripherals during a broader equipment transition, our pickup service is the most efficient way to clear out your space.

Our business pickup service is ideal for:

    • Office workstation refreshes and desktop replacements
    • Employee onboarding and offboarding transitions
    • Company relocations and office cleanouts
    • Storage room and surplus IT equipment purges
    • Mixed electronics loads (keyboards, mice, monitors, laptops, desktops, and cables)

Our business pickup fee is waived when your recycling inventory includes 5 or more qualifying items, such as laptops, desktops, servers, enterprise networking equipment, monitors, TVs, and phones or tablets 4 inches or larger.

Drop-Off At Our Burlingame EcoCenter

GreenCitizen also offers keyboard recycling drop-off at our Burlingame EcoCenter for accepted items. This option is available for both residents and organizations that want to bring keyboards in directly.

No appointment is required for keyboard drop-off. Residents and organizations can come during business hours and drop off accepted keyboards at the EcoCenter.

    • Drop-Off Location: 1831 Old Bayshore Hwy, Suite 2, Burlingame, CA 94010
    • Hours: Monday–Friday: 10:00 AM–6:00 PM. Closed on weekends and major holidays

Before You Drop Off Wireless Keyboards

If your keyboard uses removable batteries, take them out before drop-off. That means:

      • Remove AA or AAA batteries from wireless keyboards before bringing them in
      • Do not include loose batteries in your recycling load
      • If you are unsure about a built-in battery device, confirm with us first

Mail-In Keyboard Recycling

If you are located outside GreenCitizen’s 35-mile service area, you can still recycle keyboards with us through our mail-in recycling service. This option is available for individuals and organizations that want to access GreenCitizen’s recycling services from outside our local pickup range.

Mail-in recycling helps extend keyboard recycling access beyond our Bay Area pickup coverage and Burlingame drop-off service.

Note: Shipping costs are covered by the sender.

What Types Of Keyboards Does GreenCitizen Accept?

GreenCitizen accepts keyboards of virtually every kind — whether you’re clearing out a single home desk or processing a bulk office equipment load.

    • By connection type: USB wired keyboards, wireless keyboards, Bluetooth keyboards, and rechargeable cordless models are all accepted.
    • By form factor: Standard full-size keyboards, compact keyboards, ergonomic and split keyboards, mechanical keyboards, backlit keyboards, and gaming keyboards are all welcome.
    • By brand: We accept keyboards from all major consumer and business brands, including Apple, Logitech, Dell, HP, Lenovo, Microsoft, Kensington, Razer, Corsair, Acer, and ASUS, among others.

If you’re unsure whether your keyboard qualifies, the answer is almost certainly yes. If it’s a keyboard and it no longer has a use, bring it in.

Recycling keyboards as part of a larger cleanout? Keyboards that come in alongside laptops, computers, monitors, and other office equipment are handled the same way — let us be your recycling partner.
