The European Union has announced that there are high-level agreements on a new plan to promote investment in new green technology. Not only is this plan aimed at counteracting climate change, but it could help the EU secure significant economic growth in the green tech sector.

Labeled the “Green Deal Industrial Plan,” the European Commission has been a major contributor to the wording and research surrounding the ideas.

And it’s one of the latest efforts to ensure carbon neutrality by the 2050 goal set by the EU.

AP news had some more details about what this plan aims to achieve.

“Von der Leyen used a speech at the World Economic Forum in Davos to say that on top of feeding its own industry, the 27-nation bloc will become much more forceful in countering unfair trading practices, if they come from Washington, or more importantly, Beijing.”

There are still a lot of questions about how the plan will be fully implemented and what kind of funding will be available to members of the EU. But it’s good to see that politicians are following precedents set in other countries to fight the climate crisis.
