People, especially younger generations, are becoming increasingly aware of the rising effects of climate change, which is resulting in climate change anxiety.
According to BBC News, experts say this anxiety can actually be a good thing for the planet, as it can motivate people to take action.
"I think it's hard not to worry about climate change. We're constantly bombarded with news articles and social media about how it's just crisis after crisis - ice caps melting, disasters - it can be very overwhelming," explains Roisin, 16, from County Antrim in Northern Ireland. Roisin is on the youth advisory board of Save The Children, which recently found that 70% of children in the UK worried about the world they are inheriting.”
The cause of climate anxiety is the huge amount of negative news about the planet. However, activists such as Greta Thunberg and David Attenborough are giving hope.
Luckily, more and more young people are becoming aware of the climate change problems and are taking action to better our environment. Some of the most common measures people are taking are becoming vegetarians, shopping locally, buying second-hand, and more.
