Rewilding is planned for half a million acres in Scotland. This will help endangered species, the climate, and the local communities.

Scotland has an ambitious plan to rewild 500,000 acres, known as the Affric Highlands. The goal is to do this in the next 30 years.

According to Treehugger, the Scottish Rewilding Alliance hopes Scotland will become the world's first Rewilding Nation.

Affric Highlands is a bold, exciting and inspiring venture for nature’s recovery as Scotland moves up the biodiversity league table. Our decision to accept the project as our ninth rewilding area reflects the hard work and achievements of Trees for Life, its volunteers, and its partners,

So far, six organizations and 25% of the area’s landowners are on board. Work is being done to bring more people on board. In 2023, a 10,000-acre estate, Dundreggan in Glenmoriston, is set to become the world’s first Rewilding Center, as impressive restoration work has already been done here.

Currently, Scotland is one of the most nature-depleted countries in the world, as many of the species have already died or are in danger of extinction.

Rewilding can help protect the existing wildlife, reduce climate breakdown impact, and support local economies.
