TransAlta Announces 300MW Clean Energy Project in Oklahoma

Canadian electricity giant, TransAlta Corporation announced last week that the company has entered into two long-term PPAs for offtaking 100% of 300 megawatts of electricity in White Rock Oklahoma. The two projects are called White Rock East and White Rock West projects located in Caddo County, Oklahoma.

Having the AA credit rating from S&P Global Ratings, TransAlta is ready to enter the construction phase for the two wind power projects.

Officials indicate that the White Rock Wind Project will have a total of 51 wind turbines from Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems. Also, the project is likely to begin the construction phase in late 2022. The project aims to start commercial operation by the second half of 2023.

TransAlta is thrilled to make our White Rock Wind Project a reality. The delivery of low-cost, reliable, and clean energy from White Rock supports our customer's sustainability goals and provides an excellent opportunity to expand our wind fleet in the United States.

John Kousinioris, President and Chief Executive Officer of TransAlta

It should be noted that the portfolio of TransAlta is very strong. The company has over 100-years of history and has over 75 electricity projects in the United States, Canada, and Australia.

Not only the people of Oklahoma will enjoy a source of clean energy but also the project will open gates to many new green jobs in the state.
