Pacifica Sets the Standard for Sustainable Electronics Recycling in California

Pacifica, California, is more than a scenic coastal escape—it’s a community deeply committed to sustainability and responsible living. With a population of just under 38,000, Pacifica blends small-town charm with a progressive mindset. Local businesses, residents, and city officials all play an active role in preserving the area’s natural beauty and reducing environmental impact.

The city is currently updating its Climate Action Plan through the Climate Action and Adaptation Plan Task Force (CAAP Force), formed in May 2023. This 11-member team is focused on setting measurable goals to lower greenhouse gas emissions and build long-term climate resilience. Priority areas include energy efficiency, renewable energy adoption, sustainable transportation, and robust community engagement. The task force aims to build on the city’s original 2014 Climate Action Plan, aligning with broader sustainability standards across California.

Environmental programs already in motion include beach clean-ups, native plant restoration, erosion control, and educational campaigns. These initiatives support the city’s broader environmental vision, which includes a push toward zero waste goals and more eco-conscious policies.

Pacifica’s residents and businesses show strong commitment to e-waste recycling, taking proactive steps to ensure devices like laptops, desktop computers, and electronics are properly disposed of. The city complies with California’s Electronic Waste Recycling Act of 2003, which bans electronics from landfills and mandates safe recycling through certified programs. E-waste collection events and scheduled pickups further enhance access to responsible electronics disposal.

With a diverse economy made up of retail, hospitality, education, and small business enterprises, Pacifica has the commercial infrastructure to support sustainable practices on a larger scale.

With these green policies, the city expanding its climate goals, and encouraging responsible computer recycling in Pacifica, the city positions itself as a regional leader in environmental sustainability and smart waste management.

Why Pacifica Trusts GreenCitizen for Safe, Responsible Computer Recycling

Pacifica isn’t just known for its breathtaking coastal bluffs and surf-worthy beaches—it’s a community grounded in environmental responsibility. Both residents and local businesses have embraced sustainability, making everyday choices that protect their city’s natural beauty and promote long-term ecological health.

Our responsible computer recycling services have supported more than 70,000 Bay Area businesses and 400,000 residents, keeping over 32 million pounds of e-waste out of landfills. Pacifica remains a key contributor to this impact.

Over the years, we’ve welcomed Pacifica’s community through our Burlingame locations—from 801 Mahler Road to 1576 Rollins Road, and now at our current Burlingame EcoCenter at 1831 Old Bayshore Hwy, Suite 2. Awesome environmental conservation company helping to keep our landfills free of e-waste & non-biodegradable plastics. Needed to recycle two broken flatscreen televisions and two huge bags of styrofoam. GreenCitizen’s website was easy to navigate, clear as to what items they are able to take, and upfront about any fees on certain items. Drop-off was made easy by filling-out the online form prior to my visit. Staff was extremely helpful, attentive, and friendly. Fee for the amount of styrofoam I brought was very reasonable & well worth it knowing it will be recycled & repurposed. Fees for “non-free items” are far more reasonable than the green line station! I was in & out in 10 minutes. Great company doing great things for our environment! Overall great experience.

“HIGHLY RECOMMEND. I set up a new household a couple of years ago and could not bring myself to throw away all of the styrofoam packaging I accumulated. It’s been waiting in my garage patiently as I tried (mostly in vain) to find somewhere to recycle it. I just dropped a carload off at GreenCitizen for a very reasonable fee ($18) to support their operating costs. There was no waiting – I drove right through and their super helpful staff had it done in 5 minutes. WELL WORTH an annual or semi-annual treck from the East Bay for all my non-bin recycling needs.

Thank you GreenCitizen! You’re doing awesome work.”

On Electronics Recycling Drop-Off

Great recycling service. Their fees are very fair, and their service is stellar. I’ve gone multiple times over the last 8 years and have always had great, kind, helpful service. I really appreciate this company that does so much good with recyclables that would normally be added to landfill.
