Leading Emirates’ stakeholders in aluminum manufacture and use launch a recycling coalition aimed at providing industries with sustainable aluminum.

Emirates Global Aluminum, the UAE’s largest enterprise, not counting oil and gas, has decided to launch the Aluminum Recycling Coalition to promote aluminum recycling in the Emirates.

Among others, members of the coalition include Abu Dhabi Waste Management Company, different branches of leading beverage companies, and can manufacturers.

Aluminum is one of the few materials that can be infinitely recycled.

According to the Environmental Leader, approximately three-quarters of aluminum ever made is still in use today.

statement
The Aluminium Recycling Coalition aims to promote aluminum recycling by UAE consumers. The group intends to finance a study by the International Aluminium  Institute that will focus on aluminum recycling rates and behaviors in the UAE in order to fully grasp the scope of the opportunity and potential solutions. Similar studies are being carried out by the International Aluminium Institute, which represents the global aluminum sector.

The coalition also plans to provide support to the government in making aluminum recycling regulations and policies toward developing an environmentally-friendly aluminum recycling infrastructure.

Despite being one of the most recycled materials in the world, aluminum processing is still responsible for over 80% of emissions in the materials-producing industry.

Aluminum recycling initiatives will give automotive, beverage, packaging, and appliance industries access to sustainable aluminum.
