Circular Economy Initiative

The GreenCitizen Circular Economy Initiative is to research and identify
the scopes to implement Industry 4.0 tools, such as 3D printing, robotics, AI/cognitive computing, and IIoT that are invented and developed outside
of the U.S. and introduce those technologies to the U.S. Market.

GreenCitizen would like to help companies that have developed state-ofthe-art circular economy technologies and products to market, sell, and support their products in the US Market.

According to the European Parliament,

A product designed to be used for a long time, easily fixed to extend its useful life, and efficiently dis-mantled and recycled locally into raw materials, would be an ideal product designed for a circular economy.

Conceptually, the circular economy is a noble idea. However, in reality, it is hard to implement due to how products are currently designed, manufactured, and shipped long distances from a low-cost labor country to the end-users. Sadly, most of the consumer products are not designed to last, but rather to be thrown away at the end of their short useful life, or pre-maturely replaced through planned obsolescence.

In addition to the challenges in product design, manufacturing, and supply chain, the high labor cost is another factor why most of the products are made by countries with abundant, low-cost labor, such as in China and Southeast Asian countries.

Why Circular Economy Is Hard To Implement

An End To Linear Product Cycle

GreenCitizen seeks to break this linear economic product cycle model and focus on building a redefined circular economy.

With the advances inCAD/CAM design tools, 3D printing, robotics, machine learning, artificial intelligence, blockchain technology, and IoT, it is even possible to bring some of the manufacturing back to higher-cost developed countries such as the U.S. Combined with skilled labor, it is now possible to make products that are competitive with global low-cost product manufacturers.
