From innovative building materials to local manufacture and renewable-energy systems, Zero Energy Ready Homes are the gold standard of sustainable living.

Zero Energy Ready Homes bring sustainable living on a brand new level. Thanks to solar panels, the total amount of renewable energy produced is equal to the amount you would use in a year.

That is the very idea of a carbon-free home with net-zero bills.

However, to achieve this, the building standards for these homes are among the most rigorous for eco-friendly residential developments.

This doesn't seem to concern Saint-Gobain North America (SGNA), a leading building materials manufacturer in the country.

InHabitat reports that their first Zero Energy Ready Home project is underway in North Canton, Ohio. The home uses more than 20 SGNA’s material solutions that maximize both comfort and energy efficiency.

statement
“SGNA specifically chose to construct a zero energy ready home because of the immense benefits they have. Zero energy homes are meticulously designed for their exact locations, using high-quality materials and passive systems to combat site-specific challenges and produce sufficient energy to keep power bills low while respecting the environment.”

For example, materials like InsulPure™ Duct Wrap and WideWrap improve thermal efficiency of heating and cooling systems. They almost completely eliminate condensation in HVAC ducts.

But it’s not just the materials themselves..

The company is applying sustainable solutions on different levels.

Many of these innovative materials are locally produced in Avery, Ohio. This significantly reduces transportation emissions while supporting the local economy.

SGNA is also working with a local nonprofit to identify the family that will move into their first Zero Energy Ready Home when it’s completed in 2022.
