A business gets weekly recycling, organics, and landfill service, a food-to-energy program for kitchen waste, battery drop-off at retail partners, food donation assistance, and sustainability advisors on request. There is no electronics service anywhere in the commercial scope.
Residential accounts have one. Single-family and multifamily customers can book on-call curbside electronics collection for a fee. That option stops at the residential line, which is why an office manager who calls the hauler expecting the same service is told no.
The disposal rule, meanwhile, applies to everyone. Electronics cannot go in the trash. A Walnut Creek business is bound by a restriction its own service agreement gives it no way to satisfy.
The county’s hazardous waste facility is not the workaround. Central San’s site on Imhoff Place in Martinez does open accounts to small businesses, but it is scoped to paint, solvents, cleaners, lamps, and propane. Retired workstations and network gear fall outside what that program handles.

What the Business Pickup Form Asks for
Organization, contact, and pickup address, plus a separate billing contact if that is a different person. Then quantities by category, with reference photos on the form so you can match what you have. There are fields for pickup instructions and for whoever is authorizing the job. If you are in a leased building, you can flag whether the tenant or the property is paying. A short video guide sits alongside it if you want to see the form filled out first.
Data Services are Chosen Inside the Form
Each category has its own data option attached, so you decide item by item rather than after the fact. Data erasure is $5 per device and physical drive destruction is $20, with large quantities quoted at a discount. If a drive cannot be erased to standard, we upgrade it to physical destruction at no extra charge instead of passing it through.
What Qualifies for Free Pickup
Five or more qualifying items waives the fee. Laptops, desktops, servers, enterprise networking gear, LCD and LED monitors, all-in-ones, and CRT displays count toward that total. Printers, copiers, sealed lead-acid UPS units, and anything over 100 pounds are collected for a fee instead, quoted before scheduling rather than added afterward. Items need to be at ground level, at a loading dock, or reachable by elevator.
Before the Pickup Truck Arrives
Clear BIOS and EFI passwords, Apple Accounts, Device Enrollment Program enrollment, and any MDM or remote-management locks. Locked machines can still be collected, but they cannot be sanitized and will not count toward your qualifying five. If your building requires a Certificate of Insurance, send us the property manager’s requirements when you book and we will have it ready.
