Computer Recycling in Novato
Business pickup with a record for every device.
Retired computers don’t need to sit in a storage room until someone finds time to deal with them. GreenCitizen comes to your Novato office to pick them up.
Each device gets its own tracking ID when we collect it. You choose whether each drive is erased or destroyed, and either way it’s done to a recognized standard.
Pickup is free with five or more qualifying items. For smaller loads, we quote a logistics fee before anything is scheduled.

Get DirectionsWhy Novato Businesses Choose GreenCitizen for Computer Recycling
An old computer is two problems in one box. One is the hardware, which California doesn’t allow in the trash. The other is the drive inside, which may still hold years of company data.
GreenCitizen takes care of both, and gives you the paperwork to show it.
We come to you
Pick a time, and we come to your office to pick up your equipment. Nobody on your team has to plan a drop-off or give up part of a workday to drive.
Every device gets its Unique ID
We log each item in AGTAMS, our AI-powered GreenCitizen Total Accountability Management System, when we collect it. If someone asks about one specific laptop months later, you can look it up.
You decide what happens to each drive
Choose software erasure or physical destruction by equipment category. If a drive won't erase to standard, we destroy it physically at no extra cost.
Pricing before you book
Most computers recycle at no cost. Where a fee applies, it's in your quote before we schedule anything.
Novato's Local E-Waste Options, and Where They Fall Short for Businesses
Novato has its own hazardous waste facility on Redwood Boulevard, separate from the county program in San Rafael. It accepts electronics, including computers and TVs.
The facility is built around households. It opens on the first and third Sundays and Mondays of each month, and those collection days are for Novato residents. A business has to call a separate line to set up an appointment.
That leaves a company with a dozen retired laptops working around a calendar with few open days. Someone still has to pack the equipment and drive it over.
The larger gap is documentation. A household program isn’t designed to track individual devices or record how data was destroyed. For a business, that record is often what matters most.
| What to compare | Doing it yourself | GreenCitizen pickup |
|---|---|---|
| Getting it there | Your team packs it and drives it over | We come to your office to pick it up |
| Scheduling | A few collection days each month | Booked around your business, with urgent options |
| Data on the drives | Your team wipes drives before drop-off | Erasure or destruction to NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 1, onsite data destruction is available too |
| Tracking | No record of individual devices | An AGTAMS ID for every major item |
| Documentation | Not designed for audits | Certificate of Destruction available |
| Cost | Staff time, plus any facility fees | Free at 5+ qualifying items |
The Records You Receive After Pickup
When we leave, you’re left with an empty storage room and a set of records. Those records answer the question of where the equipment went.
- A device-by-device record. Each major item carries its own AGTAMS ID, so you can trace one machine instead of a total weight.
- A Certificate of Destruction. Available for $5 per device on any drive we erase or destroy. It's useful for client security reviews, insurers, and internal audits.
- Weight reports and certificates of recycling. Available on request for sustainability reporting, including weight diversion data.
Keep these on file. They answer the questions that tend to come up later, often long after the equipment is gone.
Two Decades of Electronics Recycling for Bay Area Businesses
GreenCitizen opened on Earth Day in 2005. Our EcoCenter in Burlingame has been home base ever since.
We’ve recycled 34,006,783 pounds of electronics for 75,019 businesses and 414,161 individuals.
For you, that means a team that has worked with tens of thousands of businesses, using a process that stays the same from job to job. The people who pick up your equipment work for GreenCitizen. So do the people who process it.
Reuse before recycling
We check working equipment for a second life before we take anything apart.
US-only processing
Our downstream partners are R2 and e-Stewards certified recyclers. Nothing is shipped overseas.
Documented data destruction
Drives are handled to NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 1, with DoD 5220.22-M available when a contract requires it.

Get the equipment ready
Stage items at ground level, at a loading dock, or near an elevator. Remove BIOS/EFI passwords, Apple Accounts, Device Enrollment Program enrollment, and MDM locks.
