New  Jersey is taking a new approach to managing offshore wind farm operations by solving one of the biggest problems for this highly effective renewable energy source.

One of the main problems has so far been the cost of getting the electricity from the wind farms to the onshore grid.

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities will start a competitive bidding process to build more integrated transmission facilities to link up multiple offshore wind farms.

And if NJ can achieve this at a local level, then there should be no stopping a national approach to fully integrated wind farms along the entire coast.
