President Joe Biden’s administration has new plans to boost the solar industry in the US. The administration plans to pause solar panel tariffs and boost domestic production of clean energy, which includes solar panels.

According to EcoWatch, the administration hopes these plans will boost construction projects, and create more jobs.

statement
“Together, these actions will spur domestic manufacturing, construction projects, and good-paying jobs – all while cutting energy costs for families, strengthening our grid, and tackling climate change and environmental injustice,” the White House said in an announcement. “With a stronger clean energy arsenal, the United States can be an even stronger partner to our allies, especially in the face of Putin’s war in Ukraine.”

The move caused solar energy stocks to rise and is praised by environmental advocacy groups. They say this will create millions of new jobs and make the US a global leader in clean energy innovation.

The administration also used Defense Production Act to boost clean energy technology for the first time in history.

This aligned with the Biden administration’s plans to reduce US greenhouse emissions by half by 2030.
