AT&T is implementing sustainability approaches to drive business growth. This will prove that adopting sustainability moves can benefit companies to save money.

AT&T is one of the world’s largest and most innovative telecoms companies, and the company has now taken active steps to make sustainability a driver for business results. It’s a positive move in a world where many people have constantly argued that sustainability would erode profits and cause companies to downsize.

Like many other businesses and industries, AT&T has announced several measures to do what’s right and reduce the huge carbon footprint. But it’s only now that the organization has revealed that they will use sustainability projects to reduce costs and improve revenue and profits.

The Environmental Leader has reported some background to what has pushed this agenda.

“More and more AT&T business customers are ramping up their efforts to assess and reduce emissions in their supply chains. With an increased focus on Scope 3 emissions, we’re seeing a growing number of requests for information from our customers as they engage their suppliers on sustainability.”

That means that large investors and/or groups of smaller investors are making their concerns heard at shareholder meetings. With that level of pressure proving successful, this should serve as a reminder that it’s possible to drive changes from multiple angles.
