In 10 years, Apple’s sustainability roadmap aims to lower emissions through a series of innovative actions.
In July, Apple revealed its plan to make its supply chain and product lifecycle neutral by 2030. The company has already made its corporate operations carbon neutral, and this new step means that every Apple product sold from 2030 on will have net-zero climate impact.
Tim Cook, Apple’s CEO said that businesses have a great opportunity to help make a more sustainable future by making products that are more energy-efficient.
According to Apple, the company is also providing a carbon-neutrality roadmap for other companies looking to reduce their impact on climate change.
“To support these efforts and beyond, Apple is establishing an Impact Accelerator that will focus on investing in minority-owned businesses that drive positive outcomes in its supply chain and in communities that are disproportionately affected by environmental hazards. This accelerator is part of Apple’s recently announced $100 million Racial Equity and Justice Initiative, focused on efforts that address education, economic equality, and criminal justice reform.”
In 10 years, Apple’s sustainability roadmap aims to lower emissions through a series of innovative actions including low carbon product design, expanded energy efficiency, renewable energy, process, and material innovations, and carbon removal.
For example, Apple has already supported the development of an aluminum production process that releases oxygen instead of greenhouse gases.
