New Jersey-based company “Sea-Straw” is dedicated to making eco-friendly straws that won’t damage the environment or pose choking hazards for marine life.
The company is currently producing around 100,000 straws a month made from aluminum, according to the video produced by ABC Localish.
Though metal straws are becoming more and more widespread, one employee for the company explains that “99.99%” of mass-produced metal straws contain dangerous heavy metals that you don’t want to put inside your body.
In contrast, the aluminum straws are much safer for both the planet and your body.
I personally hate paper straws with every inch of my being, so the faster we can find an eco-friendly alternative, the better.
Have you ever tried to drink a Frappuccino with one of those paper straws? Urgh. It feels gross and the straw is basically mush halfway through.
I understand that we have to find an alternative to plastic, but these paper straws ain’t cutting it so far.
Hopefully, Sea-Straw will be able to roll out its innovative eco-friendly straws out on a larger scale, giving us all a safe, non-mushy drinking experience.
Joe is passionate about environmentalism and the effect it has on our planet. He’s been a vegetarian for 10 years and is very strict about recycling in his apartment. As well as writing, he likes to spend time singing, playing the guitar, and defending pineapple on pizza.
