While many auto manufacturers are starting to produce electric vehicles, BMW is going a step further.

They revealed plans for a completely recyclable electric car at the Munich Motor Show IAA Mobility 2021 in Munich, Germany.

According to the Treehugger, the concept is called i Vision Circular, and it’s intended for urban settlements because it’ll be only 157 inches long. They plan to manufacture this recyclable car by 2040.

The BMW i Vision Circular illustrates our all-encompassing, meticulous way of thinking when it comes to sustainable mobility. It symbolizes our ambition to be a pioneering force in the development of a circular economy. We lead the way for resource efficiency in production and we are seeking to extend this status to all stages of the vehicle life cycle.

Oliver Zipse, CEO, BMW

This new vehicle will not only be 100% recyclable but it’ll be made from recycled materials. The battery will be made from materials found at the recycling loop.

There won’t be any paint to avoid bonded connections and composite materials. The vehicle will use parts that can detach easily, which will make it easier to disassemble when it’s time to recycle.

The great news is the production costs will be lowered, and the vehicle can be repurposed at the end of its life.
